End-of-life vehicles
Scrapping your cab?
Compliant disposal.
For cabs genuinely at end-of-life. We work with Environment Agency Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) for legally-compliant scrap. Free collection. Certificate of Destruction issued. DVLA notified.
Try selling first
Most non-runners still have value.
Reg and mileage. We will tell you straight.
Most cabs are worth more than scrap
Before scrapping, get an outright-purchase quote from us first. Even non-running cabs often have running-vehicle value to specialist buyers, typically £500-£3,000 more than scrap. Send the reg via /cab-valuation and we'll come back in 2 hours with a real offer. If we can't buy outright, we'll route you to scrap. Worst case: same outcome, best case: hundreds-thousands more in your pocket.
How scrap works
Four steps. Two days end-to-end.
Submit your reg + condition notes
Tell us briefly: write-off Cat A/B, non-running, EV with dead battery, etc. We confirm the route within 4 hours.
ATF collection
Our partner ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility) collects free of charge. They handle the heavy lifting (literally, non-runners need a flatbed).
Certificate of Destruction issued
Once the vehicle is at the ATF, they issue a CoD within 48 hours. We forward you a digital copy + paper copy by post.
DVLA notification + your scrap payment
We notify DVLA so the vehicle leaves your name. Scrap payment (£100-£600 for most cabs) goes to your bank account same-day as collection.
Compliance & authorisation
- All scrap collections handled via Environment Agency Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) partners, never roadside scrappers.
- Certificate of Destruction issued for every vehicle (legal requirement under End-of-Life Vehicles Regulations 2003).
- DVLA notification submitted on your behalf via the V5C/3 process or DVLA online portal.
- Hazardous waste handled per ELV regs, battery, oils, refrigerant, airbags. EV batteries depolarised before processing.
- Waste Carrier Licence: in process. Call 0207 8717 671 for current ATF partnership details before booking a scrap collection.
FAQ
Scrap cab FAQ
What's the difference between this and selling my cab?+
Selling = your cab still has resale value (we buy outright at /cab-valuation). Scrapping = the vehicle is at end-of-life, write-off, irreparable mechanical, or otherwise non-roadworthy. We work with Environment Agency Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) for compliant disposal.
Will I get any money for a scrap cab?+
Yes, but typically less than the running-vehicle price. Scrap value depends on weight (steel/aluminium content), catalytic converter (precious metals), and battery if EV. Expect £100-£600 for most ICE cabs, more for EVs with intact battery packs.
What's a Certificate of Destruction (CoD)?+
Legal document issued by the ATF when a vehicle is destroyed. Required by DVLA to permanently remove the vehicle from your name (form V5C/3 or online notification). We obtain the CoD from the ATF and submit DVLA paperwork on your behalf.
Do I still need to pay VED (road tax) until the vehicle is collected?+
Yes, until SORN'd or scrapped + notified. Once we collect and the ATF issues the Certificate of Destruction, we notify DVLA. You can apply for a partial VED refund for any unused full months.
What if my cab is just non-running but not write-off?+
Send the reg + mileage anyway via /cab-valuation. We may still buy outright, non-runners reduce the offer but don't always disqualify. We'd rather pay you for a cab we can fix than scrap one that has running-vehicle value.
