Range-extender condition
The 1.5L petrol generator recharges the battery on long shifts. Range-extender service history matters, so show us the routine intervals.
LEVC TX specialist
The range-extended electric London black cab. Plate status, battery health and range-extender service history all factored in. Offer in two hours, paid the same day.

The short answer
The TX is a niche range-extended electric Hackney, so it needs a specialist rather than a generalist used-car buyer who has no route back to the licensed trade. Four things drive your offer. A live TfL Hackney plate adds substantial value because the London fleet network pays for plate-ready cabs; an expired or de-plated TX still sells, just lower. Battery health is gentle on the TX thanks to the 1.5L range-extender, but a recent health report firms the number, as does range-extender service history. Generation matters: the 2023-onward current spec commands the strongest trade money on low mileage and remaining warranty, the 2020 to 2023 facelift is the heart of the active market, and early 2018 cabs sell on condition over odometer, with 250,000-plus miles being normal-shape. A real valuer checks your reg by hand and sends a firm offer within 2 hours. Free UK collection, same-day payment, no buyer fees.
What we look for
The 1.5L petrol generator recharges the battery on long shifts. Range-extender service history matters, so show us the routine intervals.
TX battery degradation is gentle thanks to the range-extender, but older cabs benefit from a recent health check, so bring the report.
A live TfL Hackney plate adds substantial value; the licensed-Hackney resale network pays for plate-ready cabs. Expired plates still saleable.
TX cabs typically reach 250,000+ miles in London Hackney service. We price on body, range-extender, battery and plate combined, not a cap.
Generation breakdown
The first-edition range-extended LEVC TX. 31 kWh battery, 1.5L petrol generator from Volvo. Early-build cabs are now showing 200,000+ miles in active London Hackney service. Range-extender service history matters more than odometer reading.
Typical condition: 180,000-280,000 miles. Most early TX cabs still actively plated.
Battery upgrade to 31 kWh (effective) with software-improved usable range, plus interior trim refresh. Demand from the licensed-Hackney trade is strongest in this band because of the higher real-world range without the price step-up of the latest spec.
Typical condition: 100,000-200,000 miles. Heart of the active TX market.
Current production with further-improved battery management, infotainment upgrades, and the latest cabin spec. Premium licensed-trade resale because of low total mileage and remaining battery warranty.
Typical condition: under 100,000 miles. Current-spec stock with strong trade demand.
Common questions
The TX is a niche vehicle. Generalist used-car buyers don't have the dealer network to re-sell to licensed Hackney trade, they'll either decline or lowball heavily. We have direct relationships with London Hackney fleet operators who actively look for TX stock.
Yes. Pre-LEVC TX4 (2007-17) and TXII (1997-06) both still trade actively, there's a continental-export market plus UK private buyers who want classic London cab styling. Smaller offer than a modern TX but a real number, not a scrap quote.
We can still buy. A degraded battery on a TX is a known cost to refurbish, we'll price it in honestly upfront rather than discover it at collection. Bring any diagnostic reports you have, the more we know on day one, the firmer the offer.
TfL plate fees are non-transferable. The cab keeps the plate until you formally surrender it. The value of a live-plate TX vs an unplated TX is the licensed-trade premium, typically £2,000-£4,000 depending on remaining plate validity.
