Private hire + non-private-hire

ULEZ status
Most Gen 3 and all Gen 4 Prius are ULEZ-compliant. Non-compliant Gen 2s still have export demand. Generalists discount non-compliant cars; we don't.

200,000 miles is a normal-shape Prius cab. The hybrid battery lasts the life of the car if treated well, and service history matters more than mileage.

Gen 2 (XW20, 2003-2009)
The first widely-adopted private hire Prius. NiMH battery, 1.5L petrol hybrid drivetrain. Euro 4 so non-ULEZ-compliant in central London, but strong continental-export demand keeps prices honest.
Typical condition: 180,000-280,000 miles. Private-hire-active examples increasingly rare.
Gen 3 (XW30, 2009-2015)
The private hire workhorse. 1.8L petrol hybrid, NiMH (or rare Li-ion on PHV-spec), Euro 5 then Euro 6 from 2013. Best-balanced economy + reliability of the four generations. The Gen 3 hybrid battery is famously durable in cab service.
Typical condition: 150,000-240,000 miles. Private-hire-active stock still strong.
Gen 4 (XW50, 2015-2022)
Lithium-ion battery option (still NiMH on most non-PHV Gen 4), redesigned chassis, Euro 6. ULEZ-compliant from day one. Plug-in hybrid (PHV) variant with 30-mile EV-only range arrived 2017, priced as a separate trim because of running-cost economics.
Typical condition: 100,000-200,000 miles. Most active private hire stock today.
Gen 5 (XW60, 2023+)
The current Prius, only available as a plug-in hybrid in the UK, no straight hybrid trim. Larger battery, redesigned cabin, premium positioning. Limited private hire uptake so far because of higher entry price; resale strong because of scarcity in the licensed-trade market.
Typical condition: under 50,000 miles. New-to-private-hire stock.

How much do you actually pay for a private hire Prius?+

Yes. Most private hire Prius we buy are 150,000-220,000 miles. Hybrid batteries on Gen 3 + Gen 4 typically last the life of the vehicle. Computer-quote buyers cap at 100,000 miles; we don't, earning history matters more.
What about plug-in hybrid (PHV) Prius?+
Plug-in Prius (Gen 3+ and Gen 4 PHV) carry separate value because of the larger battery + lower London running costs. We price the PHV variant explicitly, make sure to declare it in the valuation flow so the offer reflects it.
Hybrid battery has been replaced, does that matter?+
Positively. A documented battery replacement (especially Toyota OEM) extends the saleable life by 5+ years and we account for it in the offer. Independent rebuilds also valued, bring the receipts on collection day.
Will you buy my Prius with a hybrid battery warning?+
Yes. A hybrid system warning on the dash does not stop the sale. Tell us about it in the valuation flow and bring any diagnostic report you have, so the fault is priced in up front rather than found at collection.

Your offer holds for at least 72 hours, and the exact expiry date is printed on the offer itself. If it lapses, ask and we re-quote with current figures.
Do you collect, and does collection cost anything?+
We come to you anywhere in the UK at no charge, at a time you choose. If you would rather drop the vehicle at our Bethnal Green office, that is fine too.
When and how do I get paid?+
Paid in full by bank transfer before your vehicle leaves, after inspection and agreement. There are no selling or admin fees. The price holds if the vehicle is as described. Any change is explained first, and you can say no.
What do I need to have ready on the day?+
The V5C logbook in your name, photo ID, both sets of keys and your UK bank details. Bring the service history and any finance settlement letter if you have them.
