Try selling first
Most non-runners still have value.
Reg and mileage. We'll give it to you straight.
Most cabs are worth more than scrap
Before you scrap it, get an outright offer from us first. Even non-runners often have value through export, out-of-London licensing, and parts. Send the reg via /vehicle-valuation and a real buyer comes back in 2 hours. If we can't buy it outright, we route you to scrap. Nothing lost, and you might bank real money on a cab you wrote off.
How scrap works
Four steps. Two days end-to-end.
Submit your reg + condition notes
Tell us briefly: write-off Cat A/B, non-running, EV with dead battery, etc. We confirm the route within 4 hours.
Free collection
A licensed scrap site collects free and handles the heavy lifting. Non-runners get a flatbed.
Certificate of Destruction issued
You get your Certificate of Destruction within 48 hours, digital copy plus a paper copy by post.
DVLA notification + your scrap payment
DVLA notified so the vehicle leaves your name. Scrap payment (£100 to £600 for most cabs) to your bank on collection day.
Compliance & authorisation
- All scrap collections handled via Environment Agency Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) partners, never roadside scrappers.
- Certificate of Destruction issued for every vehicle (legal requirement under End-of-Life Vehicles Regulations 2003).
- DVLA notification submitted on your behalf via the logbook (V5C/3) process or the DVLA online service.
- Hazardous waste handled per ELV regs, battery, oils, refrigerant, airbags. EV batteries depolarised before processing.
- Waste Carrier Licence: in process. Call 0207 8717 671 for current ATF partnership details before booking a scrap collection.
FAQ
Scrap cab FAQ
What's the difference between this and selling my cab?+
Selling: your cab still has resale value (we buy outright at /vehicle-valuation). Scrapping: the vehicle is end-of-life, write-off, irreparable, or non-roadworthy. We work with Environment Agency Authorised Treatment Facilities for compliant disposal.
Will I get any money for a scrap cab?+
Yes, but typically less than running-vehicle value. Scrap value depends on weight, catalytic converter, and battery if EV. Expect £100 to £600 for most ICE cabs, more for EVs with intact battery packs.
What's a Certificate of Destruction (CoD)?+
Legal document the ATF issues when a vehicle is destroyed. Required by DVLA to permanently remove the vehicle from your name. We obtain the CoD and submit DVLA paperwork on your behalf.
Do I still need to pay VED (road tax) until the vehicle is collected?+
Yes, until SORN'd or scrapped + notified. Once collected and CoD issued, we notify DVLA. You can claim a partial VED refund for any unused full months.
What if my cab is just non-running but not write-off?+
Send the reg + mileage via /vehicle-valuation anyway. Non-runners reduce the offer but don't always disqualify. We'd rather pay you for a cab we can fix than scrap one with running-vehicle value.
