The Jaguar models we buy

What we look for in each model.

The honest detail. Mileage ranges we see in our pipeline, common faults at the high end of that range, and how each spec affects the offer.

XE (X760)

50,000 to 150,000 miles

Compact executive saloon. We see 8 to 15 XE per quarter, mostly 25d AWD and 20d R-Sport. The 2019 facelift cleaned up the infotainment and added Apple CarPlay which made the trade market for older pre-facelift XE softer than the post-facelift cars. R-Sport and Portfolio trim are preferred over SE for resale.

Common at the high end

  • Timing chain rattle on 2.0 Ingenium diesel past 100k (preventative chain + tensioner £1,100 to £1,500 at a Jaguar specialist)
  • Touch Pro infotainment freeze on pre-facelift cars (firmware update from Jaguar dealer usually clears it)
  • Front lower control arm bush wear at 90k+ (£400 to £600 fix)

XF (X260)

60,000 to 170,000 miles

Executive PHV saloon, the sweet spot for chauffeur operators who want something more distinctive than a 5 Series. We see 10 to 18 per quarter. 25d R-Sport with the Tech Pack is the volume spec; 30d V6 commands a premium for corporate chauffeur clients. AWD adds £500 to £900 over RWD in the trade market.

Common at the high end

  • AdBlue tank pump on 2017 to 2019 cars (covered by recall on most VINs, check Jaguar recall lookup)
  • Air suspension on Portfolio Plus at 130k+ (£900 to £1,400 fix at a specialist)
  • Sunroof drain blockage causing headlining damp on heavy-use cars

I-Pace (X590)

20,000 to 100,000 miles

The electric specialist's dream car. ULEZ-exempt, executive-spec, distinctive presence. We see 5 to 12 per quarter, mostly HSE and First Edition trim. Pre-2021 cars trade lower because of the early-build battery quirks; 2021+ stock is firmer thanks to the battery cooling software updates Jaguar pushed out.

Common at the high end

  • 12V auxiliary battery wear, independent of the 90 kWh main pack
  • Charging port flap mechanism on 2018 to 2019 cars (cosmetic, £150 fix)
  • Infotainment touchscreen sensitivity drift at 60k+ (Jaguar dealer software refresh clears it)

What affects your Jaguar offer

Honest factors. Not all of them are obvious.

Jaguar main-dealer service history

Jaguar UK main-dealer service stamps (Marshall, Stratstone, Hatfields, etc.) add £700 to £1,300 over independent specialist service. Jaguar Service Plan transfers add another £300 to £600 because the next operator gets remaining services at the agreed Jaguar rate.

AWD vs RWD on XE / XF

All-wheel-drive adds £500 to £900 over rear-wheel-drive on XE and XF in the trade market. The buyer pool is broader for AWD because of chauffeur work outside London where winter conditions matter; XF Portfolio AWD with the Tech Pack is the highest-margin Jaguar saloon we buy.

I-Pace battery health (90 kWh pack)

We check pack capacity at collection using Jaguar SDD or a third-party EV diagnostic. Pre-2021 I-Pace cars get more careful inspection because of the early-build cooling issues, post-2021 cars are typically healthy. Documented Jaguar dealer battery software updates within the last 12 months add £400 to £800 to our offer.

Air suspension (XF Portfolio Plus / I-Pace HSE)

Working air suspension on an XF Portfolio Plus or I-Pace HSE adds £800+ to our offer. Documented compressor or air strut replacement within the last 30k is a real plus because it removes the most common high-mileage failure mode trade buyers price against.

Both keys + charging cable (I-Pace)

Missing the spare key knocks £200 to £350 off a Jaguar offer; key cut + program is £350 at most franchises. For the I-Pace, the granny charger and Type 2 charging cable are part of the original delivery; missing them knocks another £150 to £250 because the next operator has to replace them.

Jaguar market, today

Where Jaguar prices are right now.

Jaguar intake is steady but lower-volume than mainstream premium. XF 25d R-Sport AWD trades £14,000 to £20,000 for clean 2019 to 2021 stock with full service history. XE post-facelift (2020 onwards) is firmer than pre-facelift at £13,000 to £18,000. I-Pace HSE 2021+ commands £32,000 to £42,000 for clean stock with documented battery health; pre-2021 stock is £24,000 to £32,000. The specialist chauffeur buyer pool means we tend to place clean Jaguars within 14 to 21 days, slower than mainstream German premium but at a firmer price.

Jaguar FAQ

Common questions.

I have an early (2018) I-Pace. Are you still interested?

Yes. Pre-2021 I-Pace cars typically trade £4,000 to £8,000 below the post-2021 equivalents because of early-build battery cooling concerns, but the buyer pool is real. We check pack capacity at collection and offer accordingly. A clean 2018 to 2020 I-Pace with documented Jaguar software updates and full service history sells well in our network.

Does my XF need both keys to sell to you?

Strongly preferred but not mandatory. We can buy with a single key, the £350 cost of cutting and programming a second key at Jaguar lands on us, so the offer drops by that amount. Worth checking your house for the spare before submitting the valuation.

My XF is on Jaguar Service Plan. Does that transfer?

Yes. Jaguar Service Plans transfer with the vehicle as long as the cost is paid up. We handle the paperwork. The plan adds £300 to £600 to our offer because the next operator gets remaining services at the agreed Jaguar rate rather than retail.

Are pure-diesel Jaguar XF saloons still worth selling?

Yes, but the offer depends on where the car is operated. ULEZ Zone B expansion is pushing pure-diesel XF out of central London chauffeur work, so we anchor those offers against the regional chauffeur market (Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh) where licensing is friendlier. The car is still genuinely valuable; the buyer pool is just different.
