The Audi models we buy

What we look for in each model.

The honest detail. Mileage ranges we see in our pipeline, common faults at the high end of that range, and how each spec affects the offer.

A6 (C7, C8 Saloon + Avant)

60,000 to 180,000 miles

The corporate chauffeur staple. We see 25 to 40 A6 per quarter, mostly 40 TDI and 45 TFSI e plug-in hybrids from 2019 onwards. Avant (estate) goes faster than saloon for airport-run drivers because of the boot capacity. The 50 TDI quattro is the highest-margin spec we buy in this range.

Common at the high end

  • Air suspension compressor failure on S-Line at 150k+ (£700 to £1,100 fix at an Audi specialist)
  • AdBlue tank heater on early C8s (recall covered most, check VIN against the recall list)
  • MMI screen retraction motor wear past 120k (cosmetic, doesn't block the car)

A4 (B9 Saloon + Avant)

50,000 to 160,000 miles

Mid-size volume PHV. 35 TDI is the workhorse, 40 TFSI e plug-in is becoming more common as ULEZ enforcement tightens. We pay £300 to £600 more for Avant body over saloon. The 2019+ facelift (B9.5) holds value better than pre-facelift because of the MIB3 infotainment.

Common at the high end

  • Timing chain tensioner on 2.0 TDI EA288 engines past 130k (preventative replacement £600 to £900)
  • DPF regeneration issues on short-cycle cabs (rare on motorway-pattern drivers)
  • S-Tronic mechatronic wear past 150k on heavy-use cars

Q5 (FY)

40,000 to 140,000 miles

Premium family chauffeur and Heathrow-run favourite. The 40 TDI and 50 TFSI e plug-in are both in demand. Quattro is standard from MY2017 so no need to filter. We buy 15 to 25 Q5 per quarter, mostly 2019 to 2022 stock with B&O sound and Tech Pack.

Common at the high end

  • Panoramic roof drain blockage causing footwell damp on heavy-use cars
  • Adaptive headlight control unit failure at 100k+ (£800 part + fit)
  • Tailgate strut wear (cheap, but check before collection)

What affects your Audi offer

Honest factors. Not all of them are obvious.

Quattro adds real value

Quattro all-wheel-drive adds £600 to £1,200 to our offer on A4 and A6 compared to front-wheel-drive equivalents. The trade buyer pool is broader because Quattro travels north of Watford for chauffeur work in places like Manchester and Edinburgh.

Audi main-dealer service stamps

Audi UK main-dealer service history (Sytner, Vindis, Lookers, etc.) adds £800 to £1,500 over an independent specialist. Audi Service Plan transfers also add value because the next operator gets remaining services at trade rate. A car with a complete digital service record we can pull from Audi UK is worth more than a stamped paper book.

AdBlue + DPF condition

Diesel A4 / A6 with a documented AdBlue system fault knocks £400 to £900 off our offer because the fix is dealer-only on most variants. DPF condition matters less than people think, we factor in regeneration history but most PHV cars sit well within normal range thanks to motorway-heavy use patterns.

Plug-in hybrid (TFSI e) premium

A6 45 TFSI e and Q5 50 TFSI e command £1,500 to £2,500 over the equivalent diesel right now because ULEZ Zone B expansion in 2026 has pushed pure-diesel premium saloons out of central London chauffeur work. The 14.4 kWh battery has a 10-year / 100k warranty from new on most builds, which trade buyers price into the offer.

Both keys + handbook

Missing the spare key knocks £200 to £350 off an Audi offer. Audi dealer key cut + program is £350 to £450 at most franchises so that cost lands on us if you can only hand over one. A complete handbook pack is a smaller plus (£50 to £100) but matters at the high end of the trade market.

Audi market, today

Where Audi prices are right now.

Audi sits in the upper-mid tier of our intake. A6 plug-in hybrid (45 TFSI e) trades hottest right now at £24,000 to £32,000 for clean 2021 to 2022 stock; pure-diesel A6 40 TDI has softened £1,500 to £2,500 in the last quarter as ULEZ Zone B expansion firmed up. Q5 50 TFSI e remains stable around £28,000 to £36,000 for a clean 2020 to 2022 example. We anchor against retail-trade rather than book because our buyer network includes specialist chauffeur traders who pay above book for quattro + Tech Pack combinations.

Audi FAQ

Common questions.

I have an A6 50 TDI quattro. Does it sell better than the front-wheel-drive 40 TDI?

Yes. Quattro adds £600 to £1,200 over the FWD equivalent because the trade buyer pool extends to chauffeur operators outside London. The 50 TDI specifically (286 PS V6 diesel) sits in a sweet spot for executive chauffeur work, so we tend to place those cars within 7 to 10 days.

My A4 is on Audi Service Plan. Does that transfer?

Yes. Audi Service Plans transfer with the vehicle so long as the cost is paid up. We handle the paperwork. The plan adds £400 to £700 to our offer because the next operator gets remaining services at the agreed Audi rate rather than retail.

Does my Q5 need both keys to sell?

Strongly preferred but not mandatory. We can buy with a single key, the cost of cutting and programming a second key at Audi (£350 to £450) lands on us, so the offer drops by that amount. Worth checking your house for the spare before submitting; people often forget where they put it.

Are pure-diesel Audis still worth selling now that ULEZ Zone B is expanding?

Yes, but it depends on the market. ULEZ Zone B (effective late 2026) is pushing pure-diesel A4 / A6 out of central London PHV use, so we anchor those offers against the regional chauffeur market (Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh) where the operating environment is friendlier. Plug-in hybrid TFSI e variants are the better long-term hold and we price them accordingly.
