A white Volkswagen ID electric private-hire car on a golden-hour city street

The short answer

How much is my VW ID worth?

Battery health is the biggest driver across the MEB-platform range, so a recent VW dealer health report on your ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 or ID.7 firms the offer. Software matters almost as much: these cars depend on firmware for range and charging, and early 2020 to 2021 ID.3 builds brought up to current spec recover most of their range, so bring the firmware reading. Trim shapes demand, with Style and Pro Performance the private-hire sellers, the ID.7 Match and Pro S the chauffeur picks, and the Tourer estate carrying a small premium. The GTX performance variant sells through different channels than the mainstream PHV trade. The 8-year transferable battery warranty is a real long-term value driver. Private-hire mileage is expected, not capped. A real valuer checks your reg by hand and sends a firm offer within 2 hours. Free UK collection, same-day payment, no buyer fees.

What we look for

Four things that shape your ID offer.

Battery health

The biggest value driver. The MEB-platform ID packs hold up well, and a recent VW dealer battery health report lifts the offer.

Trim and option pack

Style and Pro Performance trims carry the most private-hire demand. ID.7 Match and Pro S are the chauffeur sellers; the Tourer estate carries a small premium.

Mileage in PHV context

Private-hire ID.3 and ID.4 examples often show 60,000 to 130,000 miles. We price on body, battery and plate, not a cap.

Software version + over-the-air history

ID cars depend on software for range, charging and infotainment. Cars on up-to-date software command a clear premium, so bring the current firmware reading.

Model breakdown

ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7.

VW ID.3 (2020+)

First VW EV on the MEB platform, hatchback body. Original 58 kWh and 77 kWh battery options, refresh in 2023 with improved cabin trim. Active PHV stock; year 4-5 of service for early UK examples. Strong mid-market PHV trade demand, particularly the Family trim with rear cabin spec.

Typical condition: 60,000-130,000 miles. Active PHV + private-driver retirement stock.

VW ID.4 + ID.5 (2021+)

Mid-size crossover SUV (ID.4) and the slightly-sportier-roofline ID.5 sister model. 58 kWh and 77 kWh batteries, Pro and Pro Performance variants. GTX dual-motor performance variant a different segment. ID.4 the volume PHV chauffeur choice; ID.5 the lower-volume style alternative.

Typical condition: 40,000-110,000 miles. Active PHV + chauffeur stock.

VW ID.7 + ID.7 Tourer (2024+)

The executive saloon and Tourer estate, replacing Passat for EV chauffeur use. 77 kWh and 86 kWh battery options. Strong chauffeur + airport-transfer demand because of the larger cabin and the Tourer's boot capacity. Pro S Match the volume executive trim. Resale still settling as fleet replacement cycles deliver stock.

Typical condition: 20,000-60,000 miles. Premium executive stock, building.

Common questions

VW ID FAQs.

Do you buy retired chauffeur ID.7 examples?+

Yes. The ID.7 Tourer estate in particular is in strong chauffeur-trade demand because it's the EV replacement for the Passat estate in airport-transfer fleets. We price on battery SOH + service history + remaining warranty; chauffeur-typical mileage does not penalise the offer.

ID.3 vs ID.4, which makes more sense for PHV resale?+

Usually the ID.4. The crossover body gives more passenger comfort and boot space than the ID.3 hatch. The ID.3 turns over more in private-driver hands; the ID.4 turns over more in the PHV trade. We buy both and price each to its strongest market.

My ID.3 was an early build (2020-2021). Range is poor. Is it worth less?+

Depends on whether software updates have been applied. Early MEB-platform ID.3 cars had software-driven range issues that later firmware (3.x onwards) resolved. A 2020 ID.3 brought up to current firmware spec recovers most of the original range. Bring the current firmware version reading; we price accordingly.

GTX performance variant resale, different from base ID.4?+

Yes. GTX dual-motor cars sell through performance-EV channels rather than the mainstream PHV trade. The 295 bhp, AWD and heavier rear suspension aren't what PHV operators want. We do buy GTX examples, but they sell differently, and the offer reflects that.

VW warranty on the MEB ID cars, what's the position?+

VW 3-year manufacturer warranty plus 8-year / 100,000 mile battery warranty, both transferable to subsequent owners. The 8-year battery warranty is the longer-term value driver; remaining months affect the offer materially. Document the service history honestly.

Fleet sale of multiple ID models, can you handle it?+

Yes. Fleet sales of 3+ vehicles go through our Fleet team rather than the individual driver flow. /fleet/submit lets you submit the registration list in one go; we come back within 4 working hours with a fleet-level offer. MEB-platform fleets are routine.
