What we look for
The biggest value driver. EV6 and EV9 packs hold up well in private-hire duty thanks to the 800V architecture. A recent dealer SOH report lifts the offer.
GT-Line trims carry the most private-hire demand; the EV6 GT trades to enthusiasts and the EV9 GT-Line suits chauffeur work. Base Air trims still bought at trade value.
Private-hire EV6 examples routinely show 70,000 to 140,000 miles. We price on body, battery and plate status, not a mileage cap.
Kia's 7-year warranty is transferable, so an in-warranty EV6 or EV9 commands a clear premium. Documented service stamps and a battery check lift the offer.
Model breakdown
First-generation EV6 on the E-GMP platform (shared with Hyundai Ioniq 5). 58 kWh, 77.4 kWh, and (from 2023) 84 kWh battery options. 800V architecture. Active PHV + executive chauffeur demand; year 3-4 of service for the early UK examples. Strong mid-market trade demand.
Typical condition: 60,000-140,000 miles. Active PHV + chauffeur stock.
Mid-cycle refresh: refreshed exterior, improved infotainment, refined cabin. Stronger current resale because of remaining warranty + recent build. PHV uptake accelerating; chauffeur-trade demand strong.
Typical condition: 20,000-60,000 miles. Premium PHV stock.
The 576 bhp performance variant. It sells to enthusiast drivers, not the mid-market PHV trade. Resale runs through performance-EV channels. The price reflects scarcity and the dual-motor spec.
Typical condition: 20,000-60,000 miles. Lower-volume performance stock.
The 7-seat full-size EV SUV on the E-GMP platform. 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh battery options, RWD or AWD. Strong chauffeur + family-PHV + airport-transfer demand because of the 3-row seating. GT-Line S the volume executive trim. Replacing Sorento Hybrid for many family-PHV operators.
Typical condition: 20,000-60,000 miles. Premium chauffeur + family PHV stock.
Common questions
They sell to different drivers. The EV6 goes to mid-market private hire and private drivers; the EV9 goes to chauffeur, family private hire and airport transfer work. The EV9 trades higher for its third row and bigger battery. The EV6 turns over more often because more people want one.
Not materially. Slow AC home charging is gentle on the pack; the 800V architecture is about rapid DC capability, not a requirement. A home-charged EV6 with low cycle count actually has slightly better SOH than a similar mileage EV6 that's been rapid-charged exclusively. Bring SOH documentation either way.
Yes, fully. Kia's 7-year / 100,000 mile manufacturer warranty transfers to subsequent owners as long as servicing has been to schedule at Kia dealers or qualified equivalents. The warranty is the single biggest value driver on EV6 / EV9 resale within the 7-year window. Document the service history honestly for the firmest offer.
Rarely. The GT is built for performance-EV buyers, not PHV operators. The 576 bhp and the higher running costs make it uneconomic for private hire. We do buy GT examples, but they sell through performance-EV channels rather than the PHV trade. The offer reflects that.
Slightly. 7-seat (5+2 third row) is the standard chauffeur + family-PHV demand surface; 6-seat (with second-row captain chairs) sits in a niche between chauffeur and luxury private-driver. 7-seat typically resells more easily at a marginally higher absolute price; 6-seat commands a small premium with the right buyer but turns less frequently.
No, the trade values the live plate from any council. Wolverhampton-licensed PHVs operating across England is a routine trade pattern. We handle the WBC surrender as part of post-collection workflow if you're selling out of the trade. The plate adds licensed-trade demand to the offer regardless of where you operate.
