The Skoda models we buy

What we look for in each model.

The honest detail. Mileage ranges we see in our pipeline, common faults at the high end of that range, and how each spec affects the offer.

Superb iV (Plug-in Hybrid, B8)

30,000 to 130,000 miles

The volume executive PHV in the Skoda range and quietly the highest-boot-space PHEV saloon on sale. 13 kWh battery, 35 to 40 miles EV-only, ULEZ-clean. We see 12 to 20 per quarter, mostly L&K and SportLine trim. Estate body (Combi) trades £400 to £700 above the hatchback for airport-runner chauffeur use.

Common at the high end

  • DSG mechatronic wear at 130k+ on heavy-use cabs (£1,200 to £1,800 rebuild at a VW Group specialist)
  • PHEV-specific 12V battery wear independent of HV pack (£120 fix)
  • Charging port flap mechanism on 2020 to 2021 cars (cosmetic, £80)

Octavia iV / vRS iV (Mk4)

20,000 to 100,000 miles

The compact-executive PHV. Octavia iV with 13 kWh battery, 36 to 41 miles EV-only. vRS iV combines the same powertrain with the SportLine chassis and DCC adaptive dampers. We see 10 to 16 per quarter, the Octavia estate (Combi) trades £400 to £700 above the hatch.

Common at the high end

  • DSG mechatronic intermittent shift quality at 80k+ (TCU recalibration usually clears it, £150 at a specialist)
  • Rear washer pipe routing leak (£40 fix)
  • Infotainment Apple CarPlay disconnect on 2020 to 2021 cars (firmware refresh from Skoda dealer)

Enyaq iV (60 / 80 / 80x / iV Coupe)

10,000 to 80,000 miles

The MEB-platform electric SUV. Enyaq 60 has 58 kWh battery, real-world 175 to 200 miles. Enyaq 80 has 77 kWh, real-world 225 to 270 miles. Enyaq 80x is the AWD version. We see 8 to 14 per quarter, mostly 80 and 80x in SportLine and L&K trim.

Common at the high end

  • 12V auxiliary battery wear independent of main pack (£120 fix)
  • Heat pump duct rattle on early 2021 cars (£100 fix)
  • Infotainment freeze on MEB cars (firmware refresh from Skoda dealer, similar to ID.4 fix)

What affects your Skoda offer

Honest factors. Not all of them are obvious.

Skoda main-dealer service stamps

Skoda main-dealer service history (Pentagon, Marshall, etc.) adds £400 to £800 over independent service. Skoda Service Plus plans transfer with the vehicle which adds £300 to £500 because the next operator gets remaining services at the agreed Skoda rate.

Superb iV vs equivalent VW Passat GTE

Superb iV trades £300 to £700 below an equivalent Passat GTE despite sharing the platform and powertrain, because the Skoda badge premium is lower in the trade market. For PHV buyers this is a value-tier opportunity, the car drives identically and has more boot space. We pay competitively at the Skoda end.

Hybrid pack health (Superb iV / Octavia iV)

We check pack capacity at collection using OBD2 PHEV diagnostic. VW Group 13 kWh packs hold up well; we routinely buy Superb iV at 90k+ miles where the original pack is healthy. Documented Skoda dealer pack health inspections within the last 12 months add £400 to £600.

Enyaq 80 long-range premium

Enyaq 80 (77 kWh) commands £2,500 to £4,500 over the Enyaq 60 (58 kWh) for equivalent age and mileage. The real-world 225+ miles opens up airport-run chauffeur work that the 60 struggles to support. Enyaq 80x (AWD) adds another £1,200 to £2,000 over the FWD 80.

Both keys + charging cables

Missing the spare key knocks £150 to £250 off a Skoda offer (key cut + program is £200 at most franchises). For Superb iV, Octavia iV, and Enyaq, the granny charger (3-pin domestic) and Type 2 charging cable are part of the original delivery; missing them knocks another £100 to £200.

Skoda market, today

Where Skoda prices are right now.

Skoda intake is steady. Superb iV L&K Combi trades £18,000 to £24,000 for clean 2021 to 2022 stock. Octavia iV SportLine trades £15,000 to £20,000. Enyaq 80 SportLine commands £25,000 to £32,000 for clean 2022 to 2023 stock; Enyaq 80x is £27,000 to £35,000. The brand reads value-tier in the trade market relative to VW but the underlying cars are essentially identical, so we tend to place clean Skoda stock within 10 to 14 days.

Skoda FAQ

Common questions.

Why is my Superb iV worth less than an equivalent Passat GTE?

It's not worth less in absolute terms, the difference is £300 to £700 and reflects the Skoda badge premium in the trade market. The cars share the platform, powertrain, and most components, so for PHV use they're essentially identical. We pay competitively at the Skoda end because the trade buyer pool values the VW Group reliability the same way.

Does the Skoda DSG (DQ381 / 7-speed wet-clutch) have known issues at high mileage?

The DQ381 7-speed wet-clutch DSG used in Superb iV and Octavia iV is more robust than the older dry-clutch units. Mechatronic wear at 130k+ on heavy-use cabs is the main risk; preventative fluid + filter changes every 40,000 miles meaningfully extend life. We check shift quality at collection and factor it into the offer.

I have an Enyaq 80x with the AWD. Does that count as a chauffeur SUV?

Yes, particularly for chauffeur operators outside London (Manchester, Edinburgh) where winter conditions matter. Enyaq 80x trades £1,200 to £2,000 above the FWD 80 because the AWD opens up the broader chauffeur buyer pool. Inside London the AWD premium is smaller (£600 to £1,000) but still real.

Are pure-petrol Skodas still worth selling now that ULEZ is everywhere?

Yes, pure-petrol Octavia and Superb meet TfL ULEZ requirements (Euro 6) so they're PHV-compliant in central London. The plug-in iV variants trade £2,000 to £3,500 above pure-petrol equivalents because of the EV-only range advantage on congestion-zone trips, but pure-petrol stock is still genuinely valuable and we place it within 14 to 21 days.
