Vauxhall stays competitive in the executive PHV market via Insignia diesel and the new Astra plug-in hybrid. We buy Insignia Grand Sport / Sports Tourer, Astra Hybrid hatch and Sports Tourer, Mokka-e electric, and the Combo Life MPV. Mokka-e covers the EV-entry side.

The Vauxhall models we buy
What we look for in each model.
The honest detail. Mileage ranges we see in our pipeline, common faults at the high end of that range, and how each spec affects the offer.
Insignia Grand Sport / Sports Tourer (B)
60,000 to 170,000 miles
The under-the-radar executive PHV. Insignia (Stellantis-era Vauxhall) is the most boot-spacious British-built executive on sale and trades at a discount to equivalent German rivals. 2.0 Turbo D 174 PS is the volume PHV spec; 2.0 GSi is the niche performance variant. We see 8 to 14 Insignia per quarter, mostly Elite Nav and Tech Line Nav trim.
Common at the high end
AdBlue tank pump on 2018 to 2019 diesel cars (£300 to £500 fix at a specialist)
Rear lower control arm bush wear at 90k+ (£300 fix)
Infotainment IntelliLink freeze at 100k+ (firmware refresh from Vauxhall dealer)
Astra Hybrid (L)
15,000 to 70,000 miles
The new-shape Astra Hybrid (2022 onwards) is the volume Vauxhall PHV. 12.4 kWh battery, 38 to 43 miles EV-only range, ULEZ-clean. Hatch and Sports Tourer (estate) both in our intake; the Sports Tourer trades £400 to £600 above the hatch. We see 8 to 14 per quarter, mostly Ultimate trim with the heads-up display.
Common at the high end
PHEV-specific 12V battery wear independent of HV pack
Charging port flap mechanism on 2022 cars (cosmetic, £80)
Infotainment touch sensitivity drift at 40k+ (firmware refresh)
Mokka-e (B)
10,000 to 60,000 miles
Entry-EV crossover. 50 kWh battery, real-world 160 to 190 miles, ULEZ-exempt. Volume entry-EV for new ULEZ-compliant PHV drivers entering the market. We see 8 to 12 per quarter, mostly SRi Nav Premium trim. The 2024 facelift adds 54 kWh standard range but the supply is still firming up.
Common at the high end
12V auxiliary battery wear independent of main pack
Charging port flap mechanism (cosmetic, £80)
Front camera washer pipe leak on 2021 to 2022 cars (£40 fix)
What affects your Vauxhall offer
Honest factors. Not all of them are obvious.
Vauxhall main-dealer service stamps
Vauxhall main-dealer service history (Pentagon, Robins & Day, etc.) adds £250 to £550 over independent service. Vauxhall Service Plus plans transfer with the vehicle which adds £200 to £400 because the next operator gets remaining services at the agreed Vauxhall rate.
Stellantis platform shared with Peugeot
Post-2017 Vauxhall vehicles built on the Stellantis EMP2 / CMP / e-CMP platforms share components with Peugeot equivalents (Astra ↔ 308, Mokka-e ↔ e-2008). For PHV buyers this means parts availability and specialist familiarity are strong; we factor that into the offer.
Hybrid pack health (Astra Hybrid)
We check pack capacity at collection using OBD2 PHEV diagnostic. Stellantis 12.4 kWh packs (also used in Peugeot 308 Hybrid) hold up well. Documented Vauxhall dealer pack health inspections within the last 12 months add £300 to £600.
Insignia Sports Tourer (estate) premium
Insignia Sports Tourer (estate body) trades £400 to £700 above the Grand Sport hatchback in our network. The boot capacity is exceptional for the price tier, which appeals to airport-runner chauffeur drivers who need real load space.
Both keys + charging cables
Missing the spare key knocks £100 to £200 off a Vauxhall offer (key cut + program is £180 at most franchises). For Astra Hybrid and Mokka-e, the granny charger (3-pin domestic) and Type 2 charging cable are part of the original delivery; missing them knocks another £100 to £180.
Vauxhall market, today
Where Vauxhall prices are right now.
Vauxhall intake is moderate. Insignia Grand Sport Elite Nav trades £8,500 to £14,500 for clean 2019 to 2021 stock. Insignia Sports Tourer Elite Nav adds £400 to £700. Astra Hybrid Ultimate trades £19,000 to £25,000 for clean 2022 to 2023 stock. Mokka-e SRi Nav Premium trades £14,500 to £19,500 for clean 2021 to 2023 stock. The brand sits at a value-tier discount to Peugeot equivalents despite sharing the platform, which we pay competitively against because the trade buyer pool values the underlying engineering the same way.
Vauxhall FAQ
Common questions.
Are Vauxhalls really worth selling on or should I trade in at the dealer?
Worth selling on for a competitive offer. Franchise trade-in offers on Vauxhall are typically 10 to 18% below trade-buyer-pool prices because the dealer applies a generalist margin. We anchor against the actual trade buyer pool, which for Vauxhall includes regional PHV operators and Stellantis specialists who pay closer to retail-trade.
Does the Mokka-e have known battery issues?
Not the 50 kWh pack used in 2021 to 2023 Mokka-e, no. The Stellantis 50 kWh battery (also used in Peugeot e-2008 and Citroen e-C4) has held up well in our intake; we routinely buy 2021 to 2022 Mokka-e at 50k+ miles where the pack is healthy. The earlier 2020 launch cars had a software update for charging behaviour that Vauxhall pushed out, covered by warranty if applicable.
My Insignia is on the older 1.5 Turbo diesel. Will it be priced for ULEZ?
Yes, post-2016 Insignia 1.5 Turbo D meets Euro 6 and qualifies for ULEZ-compliant PHV licensing in central London. The offer is based on the actual trade buyer pool, which for the Insignia 1.5 D includes regional PHV operators (Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds) plus chauffeur operators who want the boot space at a value price.
How does the Astra Hybrid compare to a Peugeot 308 Hybrid for resale?
Very similar, the two cars share the platform, powertrain, and most components under Stellantis. Astra Hybrid Ultimate trades £400 to £700 below a 308 Hybrid GT Premium for equivalent age and mileage because the Vauxhall badge sits at a slight discount in the trade market. For PHV use they're essentially identical.
