What we look for

Four things that shape your Leaf offer.

Battery state-of-health

The single biggest value driver. Gen 1 (2010-17) 24 / 30 kWh packs show measurable degradation by year 5-7; Gen 2 (2018+) 40 / 62 kWh packs hold up better. We read state-of-health, not just dashboard range. Bring a recent battery report (Leaf Spy or dealer printout) for the firmest offer.

Licensing badge

Live PHV plate from any UK council (Edinburgh, Nottingham, Brighton + Hove, Reading, anywhere) adds licensed-trade demand. Lapsed plates fine, we plate-strip free of charge.

Generation

Gen 1 (Mk1, 2010-2017) is older but still has used-EV demand at the right price. Gen 2 (Mk2, 2018+) with 40 or 62 kWh battery + ProPilot driver assist is the active PHV-fleet vehicle. Both bought.

Mileage in context

PHV Leafs cover 80,000-160,000 miles before fleet retirement, less than a diesel PHV because most charging is home + depot. We price on battery health + plate + body condition, not an algorithmic mileage cap.

Generation breakdown

Gen 1 + Gen 2, and what each is worth.

Gen 1 (Mk1, 2010-2017)

The first mass-market BEV. 24 kWh battery from launch, 30 kWh from 2016. Real-world range 60-90 miles when new, 40-70 after 7+ years. Lots of Edinburgh + Nottingham PHV fleet retirement stock currently in trade.

Typical condition: 70,000-130,000 miles. Most active retirement stock.

Gen 2 (Mk2, 2018-present)

All-new platform, 40 kWh from launch, 62 kWh e+ from 2019. Real-world 130-180 miles. ProPilot driver assist. The current active PHV-fleet Leaf; strongest licensed-trade resale because of remaining battery life + warranty.

Typical condition: 50,000-120,000 miles. Premium PHV stock.

Common questions

Leaf-specific FAQs.

My Gen 1 Leaf has lost 30% battery capacity. Is it worthless?+

No. Battery degradation is normal and we price for it honestly upfront. A Gen 1 Leaf at 70-75% state-of-health still has used-PHV demand at the right number, plus continental export and grey-import battery-swap markets. Generalist instant-quote sites zero these out; we don't.

Do you buy Leafs out of London?+

Yes, free collection across mainland UK. Edinburgh, Nottingham, Brighton + Hove PHV fleet retirement is the biggest source; we run a Scotland route every 7-10 days and a Midlands + South Coast route weekly.

Is my PHV plate worth anything when I sell?+

A live PHV plate adds licensed-trade demand, typically £500-£1,500 depending on the issuing council and remaining plate validity. We plate-strip free if you're selling out of the trade.

I lost the charging cable, does that matter?+

It reduces the offer by the cost of a replacement Type 1 (Gen 1) or Type 2 (Gen 2) cable, typically £150-£250 trade. Tell us up-front so the offer is firm; if you find it before collection we'll add it back.
